I’m kind of laughing at myself because two years ago when I launched this blog I couldn’t think of a name for it. Frankly, I didn’t know what I wanted to talk about and share, just that I wanted to do both.
I kind of dove plunged into writing recaps of meetups I attended and random posts about Twilight and the odd bit marketing/social media news or whatever. I hadn’t found my voice yet. I still don’t think I have but I know I’m on the right track.
So here I am thinking I wish I had a better blog name than simply my name. To do that, I need to a) think of a better name, and b) purchase my own domain OR create a new blog altogether, essentially ditching this one.
I’ve been looking to some of my favourite literature for inspiration – hoping a line here or there will sparkle as a blog title. It’s definitely a process because the name of this blog has to resonate with me; be something I don’t feel the need to change again.
That is my task for now…looking for sparkle.
If you blog, how did you come up with your blog’s name? Was it a long process or did inspiration come quickly?

Belinda Munoz + The Halfway Point
I had a hard time naming my blog. I settled on something that I know is vague to many but I feel represents me pretty well (and I know it resonates with at least a few people). I often see both (or more) sides of an issue, an argument, a struggle, a situation. And where/when it concerns me, I prefer to “choose positivity”, or in other words, don’t make things worse. But, because I wholly live in the grays (and only believe in a handful of near-absolutes), I also know that some things need to get worse before they can get better.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the process, Mel. I look forward to the reinvention if you decide to launch a new site. 😉

Belinda, thanks for sharing. i appreciate your philosophy and approach to life. choosing positivity – it’s not always easy and neither is living in the grays. but that halfway point gives you a perspective many people don’t have or even strive for. it makes you more empathetic and better able to weigh in on those difficult issues, arguments, struggles, situations.
this blog naming will be a journey. i’m not putting any time limits/deadlines to this. i figure inspiration will come soon enough!

Blogs can be deeply personal or justifiably impersonal. Like you said, it takes time to find your “voice” …and sometimes even longer to figure out what you want to say. If it helps, try to think about your readers – Who are they? What interests them in what you write? What do you think makes them want to come back and read more? This can help define the purpose and, ultimately, christen your blog. Sometimes it’s about what resonates with you …and sometimes it’s about what rings true with your audience. Either way, as you say, have fun with it and take your time.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I started blogging. I picked the name because I was a stay-at-home of a 9 month old and 2.5 year old and I lived in Ottawa. I thought it sounded kind of cool and there we go!

that makes it the perfect blog name then! i feel a bit directionless with respect to what i want to blog about. so far it is a mish-mash…i’ll square it out soon enough. in the meantime, i’m enjoying putting words down and sharing them.

Late Enough is from a line in the Mary Oliver poem “The Journey” And it took me weeks to come up with anything. Finally I just took the plunge. The tag line “because early sucks” came months and months and months later. And has nothing to do with the poem. oh well.
